Federal Gov Has Now Passed A Bill That Disallows States From Making Any Determinations On Food Ingredients - MSG & Aspartame

Dear John,
Thank you for your note and kind words. I've been in Costa Rica and just now catching up on thousands of emails I received in my absence, the reason for the delay in answering.

You say the Federal Government has passed a bill that disallows states from making any determinations on food ingredients. Can you give me that bill. When we tried to get aspartame banned in New Mexico they spoke about FDA Preemption but that bill had actually died and was never passed into law. Besides the Bill of Rights, 9 & 10, explain that you can't take away the rights of the states or the people. I know they are at it again. Is this what you are talking about, and has a bill passed the Senate and House, and signed into law?

As to aspartame I have already written a Citizens Petition for ban in 2002. The law says they must answer in 180 days. It has been 6 years and they have ignored it. So in October I wrote an amendment on an imminent health hazard which must be answered in about 10 days. They have also ignored this as well. I'm in the process of doing other things about them not answering. Another report against aspartame is also being written currently.

Regarding your request for comments on the MSG issue I'll put your request on all our lists. You may wish to subscribe to the Aspartame Information List on www.mpwhi.com Scroll down to banners.

As you no doubt know aspartame has a synergistic and additive effect with MSG, and both are many times hidden in artificial and natural flavors in processed foods. We just have to avoid them all. As Dr.
John Fagan once wrote, "If its in a box don't buy it."

Nice to hear from you again.
All my best,
Betty

Dear Dr. Martini
Your resolve at informing people of the dangers of Aspartame is to be commended!

I read your excellent article regarding the Hawaii resolution.

Unfortunately I found out that The Federal Gov has now passed a Bill that disallows States from making any determinations on food ingredients.

In December I managed to get a petition on the Docket of the FDA to revoke the GRAS status of MSG,

http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocketDetail&d=FDA>http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocketDetail&d=FDA-2007-P-0178

I have attached it here for you to view.

Is there plans for such a Petition on Aspartame?

My wife and I first found out about the dangers of Aspartame when we wrote about it in a book back in 2003. Since then the battle to expose it has been a long one.

I am hoping that by attacking the MSG issue I can follow it up with an attack on Aspartame.

I would appreciate any comments you and your network could make on the FDA site in regards to MSG. If we can get one excitotoxin banned, then we can move on to the next.

Thank you for your dedication to such a great cause.

You are a true Hero of the people!

Yours in health and knowledge
