June 2008 Newsletter Documenting The Collapse

This news letter is one of the best that I have found for documenting the collapse - please excuse this dose of doom and gloom. However if you know what's actually happening you can either avoid it or take corrective action. Thanks CCSS / John

My comment: Their "solutions"? Get rid of teachers, increase class size, make kids walk to school. Yeah right. It's called the collapse of public education folks, and I for one couldn't be more delighted.

FUEL COSTS COULD DEVASTATE AIRLINES

http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/23/news/economy/airlines/index.htm

My comment: Fuel costs WILL devastate airlines, and we should all regard air travel as a thing of the past which it most likely will be in five years. As I've been saying, travel and/or relocate now while you still can.

THE INSANITY OF OFFSHORE DRILLING

http://www.energybulletin.net/node/45477

"For years, our slowly sinking energy story has begged for a balanced, science-based energy policy. If drilling our brains out offshore—aka burning the furniture--is really part of the plan, for my kids’ sakes I would like to know what the hell we plan to do after that."

CHANGE WE CAN'T BELIEVE IN: OBAMA HAS CLOSE TIES TO ETHANOL BIZ

Industry endorsed by candidate has provided some of his top advisers

"Mr. Obama is running as a reformer who is seeking to reduce the influence of special interests. But like any other politician, he has powerful constituencies that help shape his views. And when it comes to domestic ethanol, almost all of which is made from corn, he also has advisers and prominent supporters with close ties to the industry at a time when energy policy is a point of sharp contrast between the parties and their presidential candidates."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/23/politics/main4201682.shtml

My comment: But of course: Talking about peak oil and climate change and massive conservation programs and mass transit projects--all of those are very bad for business. God forbid we should drastically curtail growth!
