The falsification of the personality and political nature of Christopher Columbus was firstly the work of the Castilian Crown and later on of the Spanish State. So his origins, age, family, the purpose of the voyage and scientific knowledge have all been manipulated to make them converge with another person from the same period but who had nothing to do with the historic events and who only shares his name with the Admiral.
